Complete description of the Sacred Valley Tour
Cusco – Awanacancha – Pisaq – Ollantaytambo – Chinchero – Cusco
You will be picked up from your hotel lobby at 8:00 am and driven through the mountains of Cusco to the Sacred Valley. Along the way, you will stop at Awanacancha, a farm for llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and guanacos. Continue to Mirador de Taray, a viewpoint with spectacular views of the Sacred Valley.
The next stop will be the archaeological site of Pisaq, an ancient Inca settlement built on top of the mountain, where you will see impressive agricultural terraces, tombs, palaces, houses surrounded by huge walls. After exploring, you will drive to the town of Pisaq to visit the handicraft market, very famous because local artisans produce their products and sell them directly to tourists.
Lunch is 1 hour drive from Pisaq. In a local restaurant in Urubamba, you will have several dishes prepared with fresh products from the area. After enjoying a delicious lunch, you will head to Ollantaytambo. A beautiful town considered the “Last Living Inca City” with original Inca streets where people are still using. Visit the wellprotected Inca fortress, built to protect the Incas from possible invasion, which is also the entrance to Machu Picchu.
The last stop is in Chinchero, a royal enclosure declared on the tenth Inca king, Tupac Inca Yupanqui. Explore the Inca construction well, the colonial church built on top of the Inca Palaces, and visit the textile market famous for its handmade textiles and ancient fabrics with natural colors. Return to your hotel around 6:00 pm.

Awanakancha (farm of llamas and alpacas). The first stop just 30 minutes from Cusco. This is a traditional Inca animal farm: llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos. Your guide will take you on a comprehensive tour to learn the main difference between them.
Inca site of Pisaq (The largest cemetery of the Incas). The archaeological site is located in the upper part of the town, surrounded by Inca walls and large agricultural terraces. Pisaq is famous for hosting one of the largest cemeteries of the Inca Empire.
Pisac market. This colorful market is a picturesque colonial town and Chinchero is one of the most famous regions of Cusco. Locals bring their handcrafted ceramics, textiles, jewelry, alpaca products, and souvenirs which they sell to the hundreds of visitors who arrive each day.
Ollantaytambo (Inca Citadel of the Last Living). The town and fortress of Ollantaytambo are located 94 km from Cusco, built to guard and protect the Sacred Entrance and Machu Picchu from possible invasions. The modern town sits atop old buildings with narrow cobblestone streets, water canals, and a well-protected archaeological site. During the Spanish conquest, it was used as a bastion during the battle of Ollantaytambo.
Chinchero (Land of great weavers). A small town located at 3760 masl, also called “The Land of the Rainbow”, was the royal estate of the tenth Inca King Túpac Inca Yupanqui, today the town is famous for the archaeological site with the colonial church, Palace and agricultural terraces very well preserved. In addition, Chinchero has the best weavers in the Cusco regions, producing handmade alpaca textiles using natural colors obtained from local plants.
