Itinerary: Cusco – Rainbow Mountain – Red Valley – Cusco
Departure and Transfer: We will pick you up between 4:00 am and 4:30 am from your hotel, Airbnb or hostel in Cusco. The trip to the start of the trek will take approximately 2 and a half hours, arriving around 7:00 am.
Breakfast and Beginning of Trekking: At the starting point, at an elevation of 4200m/14,300ft, our chef will prepare a delicious breakfast including coffee, tea, hot chocolate, bread, fruit salad, eggs and hot drinks. The weather is often cold due to the altitude, so make sure to bring warm clothing and accessories such as a scarf, hat and gloves. We will begin our uphill hike towards Rainbow Mountain, which takes approximately 2 hours of moderate walking.
Rainbow Mountain Exploration: Reaching the top around 9-10
am, you will have approximately one hour to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains, including the majestic Nevado Ausangate, which rises to 6,384m / 20,944ft. Your guide will share fascinating facts about the geological formation and history of the region, including details about the Inca culture.
Descent and Visit to the Red Valley: After exploring the Rainbow Mountain, we will descend along a different trail to the Red Valley, a true natural treasure that many consider even more impressive than the Rainbow Mountain itself. This stretch, approximately 2 and a half hours downhill, offers spectacular views and a unique experience in nature.
Lunch and Return to Cusco: At the end of the trek, close to the starting point, you will enjoy a fresh lunch prepared by our chef, including hot and cold drinks, snacks, soup and main dish. Afterwards, we will begin the return trip to Cusco by vehicle, which will take about 2 and a half hours, arriving approximately between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm, where we will drop you off at your accommodation.
