Fast notes
Cusco is the epicenter of Incan history and is home to some of the most significant archaeological complexes. Exploring them with a Sacred Expeditions Peru guide will bring this historical period to life. You will visit the impressive cathedral in the main square and the Temple of the Sun. Then, we will head out in our private transport to the outskirts of the city to explore the four main Incan ruins, including Sacsayhuaman. From here, you will enjoy some of the most spectacular views of Cusco, so be sure to bring your camera.
Note: Accommodation must be booked in the main city due to our early pick-up. We are unable to pick up from Airbnb accommodations as many do not have a name or exact address, making it difficult to locate them easily. Also, some are located far from the historic center.
Prices
We have created this special city tour limited to just 10 people to offer a personalized experience and more time to enjoy Cusco’s various archaeological sites and highlights. Accompanied by our professional English-speaking guide, you will explore Cusco’s charming colonial streets and iconic main square. Discover how this ancient city was once filled with gold and Incan treasures, which were later looted during the time of the Spanish conquest.
Itinerary
At 1 pm, we will meet you in the lobby of your hotel to begin your tour. From here, we will head towards Cusco’s Plaza de Armas, where we will explore the iconic cathedral and continue on foot along an ancestral street built by the Incas, from the Plaza de Armas to the Qoricancha, the Temple of the Sun. At the Qoricancha, you will admire Inca architecture and the influence of Catholicism. This site was the central spiritual center of the Incas and connects to the four quarters of the Inca Empire. A bronze high altar also stands out.
From Qoricancha, we will continue along Avenida El Sol, where our private transportation will take us approximately 25 minutes out of the city. We will arrive at the majestic site of Sacsayhuaman, known for its enigmatic 200-ton monoliths. Your guide will provide detailed information about this historic site.
After Sacsayhuaman, we will continue in our private transport for five minutes to the archaeological complex of Qenqo, famous for its fascinating Inca altars. Then, in another short five-minute bus ride, we will reach Puca Pucara, a small circular Inca site. Our last stop will be Tambomachay, a water temple with impressive water fountains used by the Incas for bathing rituals. Finally, we will return to Cusco, where the tour concludes in the main square, unless you have opted for a private tour, in which case we will take you back to your hotel.
